A Good Mix of Classic Cars

Static Display at Colemans Garden Centre, Templepatrick

21 April 2013

This year's 'Drive it Day' was more Drive it and park day as it we just had the Static at Colemans Garden Centre in Templepatrick.

The day got off to a good start with sunshine, albeit with a stiff breeze dropping the temperature.

All the regulars where there.  I drove David Lauro's Standard 12 while Derek was in his Austin 7 with his rebuilt engine running as smooth as it's ever been.  Brian Hamilton brought both the 1933 Morris Minor and his beloved Vauxhall Victor.

It was nice to see some new members out including Derek McLaiin and his wife in his 1971 Mini Cooper and Colin Clifford in his more modern 1992 Mitsubishi GTO 3000.

With a good mix of cars spanning from the early thirties to the early nineties, there was something for everyone.

The star of the show arrived a bit later when Raymond Boyd arrived in his usual pick-up Truck.  That wasn't the surprise.  It was the Austin 7 pick-up on the trailer he was pulling.  It would have been nice to see it running but with the weather turning to Sunshine and Showers he decided to leave it on the trailer.

Members Eye up a Bargain

You will go far to find a club with such a mix of classic vehicles.

Colemans Garden Centre supplied us with plenty of Tea and Coffee, along with jam doughnuts and scones to keep us topped up during the showers.

Many thanks to Colemans for having us yet again and I look forward to next year, hopefully with slightly better weather.
